I solve problems so people can do their jobs easier.

I'm Alexandra Doan. I come into a Denver business with messy books and a tangled office, fix it, finish it, and hand it back. Signaled Systems is how you work with me.

The Mess

You did not start your business to do bookkeeping at midnight.

The books are a few months behind. Maybe more than a few. Invoices sit unsent while money your customers already owe you just sits there. Payroll is a scramble every single cycle. Your office runs on sticky notes, group texts, and one person's memory, and that person is you.

None of that means your business is failing. It usually means the opposite. You grew faster than your back office did, and now the mess is quietly costing you money, sleep, and Saturdays.

I have seen this exact picture in shop after shop, clinic after clinic. It is fixable. It is almost never as bad as it looks from inside it, and it does not take forever. It takes somebody who has done it before, sitting down and doing it with you.

What I Do

Three ways I get your house in order

The operator record: 10+ years, $100K+ recovered, many industries, owner-led companies.

Bookkeeping and Accounting

Your books, caught up and kept up. Monthly close done start to finish, by me, personally. Bank and card reconciliations you can trust. Receivables chased down and collected, invoices out on time, and financial reports you can actually read and use to make decisions. I work in QuickBooks, Sage, and NetSuite, and I will tell you plainly what shape your numbers are in.

Office and Admin Operations

The daily machinery of your business, documented and dependable. Filing, scheduling, vendor coordination, customer follow-up, the hundred small systems that either run quietly or eat your week. I build the process, write it down so anyone can follow it, and train your people on it. When I leave, it keeps working.

HR Partner

Hiring, onboarding, and the people paperwork, handled by someone who has run People Ops for over a decade. Clean employee files, consistent processes, a new hire's first week that makes them want to stay. I am resourceful and collaborative, and I set things up so your team can do their jobs easier, not harder.

One flat fee. No hourly meter. No surprises.

The Flagship

The 45 Day Business Reset

This is the flagship. Forty-five days, one flat fee, and at the end of it your books are current, your office runs on written systems instead of memory, and you can see your business clearly for the first time in a long time.

Get Caught Up stops the bleeding in the books. The 45 Day Business Reset rebuilds the ground the books sit on so the same mess does not come back.

It is built for owner-operated businesses whose back office has not kept up with their growth. You keep running your business. I rebuild the ground it stands on.

Weeks 1 to 2

See it clearly.

I go through your books, your files, your tools, and your daily operations, and I show you exactly where things stand. What is behind, what is broken, what is costing you money. No judgment, just a clear picture and a plan we agree on together.

Weeks 2 to 4

Clean it up.

The catch-up happens here. Books reconciled and current. Old receivables worked, and collected where they can be. Files organized, accounts cleaned, the backlog gone.

Weeks 4 to 6

Build the systems.

I turn the cleanup into a machine that stays clean. Written processes for your recurring work, the right tools set up properly, templates and checklists your team will actually use, and light automation where it genuinely saves time.

Final days

Hand it over.

I train you and your team on everything, hand you the documentation, and walk you through your numbers so you know how to read them. Then you choose: run it yourself with the systems in place, or keep me on as your ongoing operations partner.

You leave with:

  • Books current and reconciled
  • Written checklists for the work that currently lives in your head
  • Your team trained on those checklists
  • A short written summary of what is still worth fixing later
Quote card: Indispensable is a personal compliment. It is a terrible operations plan.

Forty-five days from now, this could all just be handled.

The Easy First Step

Smaller mess? Start with Get Caught Up.

Sometimes the whole operation is fine and it is only the books that got away from you. A few months behind, a tax deadline getting loud, a loan application that needs clean financials you do not have.

Get Caught Up is a short, focused bookkeeping catch-up. I get your books current, reconciled, and handed back to you clean, for one flat fee agreed before we start. No open-ended engagement, no hourly meter running while you watch.

It is a low-risk way to see how I work before you hand me the bigger job.

On the call I ask three questions: how far behind the books are, what is breaking in the office, and what you need to be true in the next 30 days. You hang up with a flat price or a clear “not the right fit.” No pitch deck.

Quote card: What are you overwhelmed with? Let me come in and fix it, and then I leave.

How I Work

How I work

Not a hire. We set the finish line, I get you there, and you keep everything.

I do not take jobs. We set the finish line in writing, I do the work, and you keep the books, the checklists, and the training. When something else needs fixing later, you already have my number.

The Track Record

10+ years
running operations and finance for owner-led businesses
$100,000+
in receivables recovered across her roles
3 to 12 months
her typical turnaround engagement, start to stable
45 days
the Reset, mess to managed

I spent more than a decade inside owner-led companies as the person who got called when the books were months behind and the office ran on one person's memory. Fractional and interim operations and finance roles, three to twelve month turnarounds, one business after another. Same pattern every time. The owner knows the work. The systems did not keep up. I sort the numbers, write down how the office actually runs, train the people who stay, and hand it back running.

About

Hi. I am Ali.

I solve problems so people can do their jobs easier. That sentence has been true in every job I have ever had, whether the title said Controller, Operations Manager, or the person everyone came to when something was stuck.

I have spent ten-plus years inside owner-operated businesses, the kind where the owner answers the phone, signs the checks, and knows every customer's name. Fractional and interim work taught me to walk into a new business, read its mess accurately in the first week, and fix it without breaking what already works. Signaled Systems is my own firm here in Denver.

My degree is in Marketing, from Metropolitan State University of Denver, which surprises people until they watch me organize a business so its customers can actually find it, pay it, and come back. The accounting and operations came from doing the work, role after role, close after close.

I like controlling the details and making operations run right. I am resourceful and collaborative, and I most like the moment an owner looks at clean books and a calm office and realizes the business feels manageable again. That moment is the whole point.

Off the clock, I am a Colorado native. Avs and Broncos, no bandwagon. Flying and off-road are my favorite things there are, and I am always wishing there were more time to camp and ski. I am just like the owners I work for: a real person, running a real operation, carving out a real life around it.

Who I Work With

Built for owner-operated businesses

If you own it, you run it, and the back office lives in your head, you are who I built this for.

Trades and contractors.

Shops where the office is a desk in the corner and the owner is also the best tech. Job costing, invoicing, and receivables that keep up with the crews.

Clinics and small practices.

Scheduling, billing, and front-office paperwork that cannot slip, handled carefully and kept confidential.

Property managers.

Owner statements, vendor coordination, and books across properties that finally reconcile without a fight.

Owner-led firms of every kind.

Law offices, services, outdoor recreation, small firms where five to fifty people wear every hat and the hats are winning.

I turn down work when the books are clean and the office already runs without you, or when the owner wants me to stay forever. Those are not the projects I take.

If your business is too big for you to do the books yourself and too small for a full-time hire, that gap is exactly where I work.

Owner Questions

Both. I am based in Denver and work with local owners in person where that helps, especially at the start. The ongoing work runs fine remotely once your systems are set up. We decide together what your business actually needs.

Every engagement is one flat fee, agreed in writing before we start. No hourly meter, no surprises. If work beyond the agreed scope comes up, it is quoted first, in writing, before anyone starts it. The number depends on the size of the mess, and you will know it before you commit to anything. The first call is free, and it is a real conversation about your books, not a sales pitch.

No. Please do not. Books months behind is where I normally start, and I have seen worse than yours, I promise. Cleaning up before calling me is like tidying the house before the house cleaner comes. Just call.

Happily. I make your CPA's life easier at tax time, and if you have a bookkeeper who needs systems and backup, I can be that. I am collaborative by nature. The goal is a back office that works, not turf.

You get your documentation, your training, and clean books, so how the office runs is written down instead of living in your head, and then it is your choice. Some owners run it themselves from there. Others keep me on as an ongoing operations partner for a set number of hours each month. There is no obligation either way, and no pressure at the handoff.
